Born during a pandemic

In March 2020 everything changed.  The world screeched to a halt as Covid-19 created a new “normal”.  Our three boys no longer went physically to school and their workload was minimal.  Although there were some sad moments, especially for our high school senior, we decided to not crawl into a hole and let this virus steal our joy.  These boys, Indiana, Trace and Perrin came together to learn new things and enjoy old hobbies.  They took their love of fishing and went after a couple new skills (videography and web design)and Old Hat Outdoors was born.

As we begin this journey we invite you to join us.  Now, more than ever, we need to spend time with those we love and choose life over fear.  From our family to yours, tight lines and many smiles!

We grew up in the Land of 10,000 lakes chasing walleyes and big pike but now reside in Idaho where we spend our time chasing trout and giant 2lb perch.

Hunting

At one point it was waterfowl or nothing.  Don’t get us wrong, we still enjoy a good duck hunt in the mountains but elk and deer hunting is becoming more and more something we look forward too.

adventures

Just get us outdoors and we’ll find something to do.  It may be setting traps for crayfish, putting up trail cameras or even river surfing.  

Keller Outdoors

In 2005 our family was walking through another crisis.  It wasn’t a virus or struggling economy.  It was the loss of my (Matt) father.  Before he passed away he encouraged my siblings and I to do something that we loved that would keep us connected as we grew older.  At the time, duck and goose hunting was our passion so we established a business in that industry.  Part of that business was the filming of 4 waterfowling DVD’s that sold around the world.  

Before we sold our business in 2011, we thoroughly enjoyed sharing our love for the outdoors through film.  Were we good at it?  Well, that’s debatable.  We learned a lot and for some reason people really seemed to enjoy it.  Our partners through it all were great companies like C&S Custom Calls, Federal Ammunition and Dakota Decoys.  The friendships we gained there were priceless.  Now that my (Matt) kids are all teenagers, we are looking at ways to stay connected as a family doing something we love together.  This is one of the main reasons Old Hat was born.
