Old Hat Outdoors is made up of multiple streams of media including film and our websites. Most of these streams were dreamt up during our quarantine time during the spring of 2020. As we hash out what these dreams look like in real life, we welcome you to join us on the journey!

When our middle son Trace (shout out to middle children everywhere!) showed interest in filming we bought a new Canon camera and let him loose. Soon after he purchased a GoPro and DJI Drone. As we film everything from giant perch to beautiful Idaho trout to back-peddling mallards, join us as we make new memories that will keep viewers entertained and inspired to get out and make memories of their own.

For those of you who have spent much time trouncing through the Idaho wilderness you know that this state has an incredible variety of quality fishing opportunities. From Steelhead to Salmon, world record Perch to Bass, Idaho’s diverse fishing opportunities are hard to match anywhere else in the US. Like you, our family loves the thrill of the catch, the table fare and the adventure but most importantly we fish because it brings us together. Like master angler programs in other states and provinces, Idaho Master Angler (IDMA) exists to promote the sport of fishing by setting a standard for big fish throughout the state. The goal for the boys is to collect big fish entries and reward participants with monthly prizes. Check it out!

Named after the 43rd state of the union (Idaho), Fish the 43rd is one of our most recent additions to the Old Hat collection. By collecting valuable information from Idaho Fish & Game, reputable fishing outfitters and local intel, Fish the 43rd will soon be a one-stop online resource for those preparing to head out for time on the water.
